Week 3 - Project 52

This weeks theme is Self Portrait.

I was planning on doing a more studio style set up, but I had already packed way my studio from the smash cake session that I had this morning. So I winged it a little.

So here is the woman behind the camera, quite literally too :D

The focus might be a bit soft as I had to manual focus, as the remote doesn't work (only for the flash), so getting the correct camera remote is next on my list.

W Family

I first met Bec in our mothers group 4 years ago. Our daughters were born on the same day. (Not at the same hospital however, it would have been cool if it was though).
Well Bec no longer lives in Stawell :( she moved to NSW to be closer to her family (family is important), however she did come to Stawell (before Christmas), to celebrate a wedding. While she was here, I got to capture her family, and also meet the new W addition Master N. Oh he is so cute!

I love capturing the love of families.

Master A & Miss J

Master A and Miss J are siblings, and I was lucky enough to do a smash cake with Master A and then a baby portrait sessions with Miss J.

Master A was very eager to get into that cake. He wanted to use a fork (just like my boy), but he still had lots of fun with it either way.

And then there was Miss J. Oh she has these amazing blue eyes, and was just very cute. Did not want to sit still, but I got some very cute shots of her all the same.

Week 2 - Project 52

Today I was testing out the new fake flooring that I picked up a couple of days ago. I'm so in love with it! This will make doing smash cakes a lot easier. I still need to get more absorbent backdrop like the black. I find the ones that I made, make more work for me, cause I have to iron them, and then clone, clone, clone in post production. I love the black cause it really makes images POP!

Anyway this is week 2 image. My daughter Kayla

Miles Smash Cake

Miles never had a smash cake when he turned 1. So I figured I would wait until he turned 2 and do it for him then. I figured that since he loves food so much it would be a piece of cake (pun intended).  Well be became a bit overwhelmed. I don't blame him, I mean I had the backdrop set up and I had my lighting kit (new, as I was trialling it out, and I'm in love with it, makes the light look really natural and not artificial). So for some of the images I had to sit with him, and let me tell you it's very hard to take photo's with your son sitting in your lap. Thank goodness I had my sister on hand, I set the camera all she had to do was press the shutter. So I got some shots at least.
Kayla also wanted to be apart of it (for the cake). So you may see her dress or foot etc in some of the shots but I don't mind.

So here is the photo(s) of the week. Miles Smash Cake. I have decided to do a storyboard with this one, because there was more than 1 image that I liked. I will eventually print these off in a book. Oooh which reminds me I need to finish off last years book so I can get it printed.

The missing image

Last night after I had posted my photo's of the month, I noticed that I forgot one of the images.

The image of the day was from when Kayla turned 4.  So I thought I would show you the storyboard that I created for her for her special day.

the Image bottom left was the image I had selected as the photo of the day.

Goals for 2011

So what goals do I plan for this year?

  1. read 20 books.  If I can read 17, I think I will be possible to read 20. Oh and this is not including audio books. Audio books are out at the moment anyway cause I don't have my ipod back.
  2. loose 5k, with my busy life style, loosing 5k will be enough for me. So lets see if I can do it.
  3. do a 52 weeks photo project.
ok so they are my 3 main goals.
