Road Trip - 02.01.10

Another hot and humid day in Brisbane. Didn't have anything planned, but Kayla was getting bored, so we decided to go to a playground near Chermisde shopping centre. It's a very cool playground that was build by the community for the community. It's designed for all different ages and it shows.

Going up the balance ladder

Swinging on the monkey bars

Checking out what is up there.
Yes I'm aware her hair is very wild. It doesn't matter how much I brush it or wash it (it can go 3 weeks without a wash too), it just goes wild. the only thing I can do to stop it going like that is to tie her hair back which she doesn't really like, but I just tell her I have to wash her hair and that makes her have it back. Kayla hates having her hair washed. Why? It hurts her eyes.
But her hair does make for interesting photo's as it gives it a glow.

When we got home and had a bit of a clean up, Kayla helped her Abuela (my mum) to make empanadas. Yum empanadas! Kayla loves to help cook and clean.

And where was Miles? Where else but the stairs of course.

Now for some photo's of the family having quite time.

Miles is happy, can't you tell he is clapping. Or maybe that's because he is getting time with his Aunty E.

Road Trip - 31.12.09

Last day of the year!

When we went to the train station to go to Aquativity, Kayla saw a poster advertising Thomas the Tank Engine at the Ipswich Railway Museum. It's only on one time a year, so we figured while we were in Brisbane we would go.

I contacted my friend Andrea who lives in Jondaryan, and she was all for catching up. So Andrea and her lil boy Asher, myself, Kayla, Miles and Ximena went to the Ipswich Railway Museum.

Kayla looking cool in her Dora sunglasses. And Asher. He is so cute, but so tiny compared to Kayla!

Kayla, Asher, Ximena and Andrea riding in the train. Kayla was enjoying it until the train started to do all these curves and then she started freaking out.

On Thomas the Tank jumping castle... well it's not really a castle, more jumping tank.

This is my fav one. By the way, I didn't teach her to jump/land like this. But everytime i see it makes me laugh.

We were at the museum for a couple of hours. We properly only got to see about half of it. We discovered and indoor play centre with all these train tracks, and Kayla did not want to leave there. We were in that room for over an hour!

If we are ever back there I would like to go again, as there is more to the museum than what we saw

Road Trip - 30.12.09

Our destination for the day was Scarborough Beach. Sorry no fair there, but it would have been cool if there was a fair.

I chose this destination as it was on my list of must see parks.

The playground is very cool, it's pirate orientated! I mean it is next to the beach, so of course that makes sense. There is play equipment to cater for all ages. What I love is they have allowed for try climbing! So if your child likes to climb trees, then climb the climb friendly trees.

The water was a beautiful temperature however rocky, lots of rocks, so not so good on your feet. Either way we all had a good time.

Photo's taken by my husband Adam

Have you seen my baby go this way and that way?

I love the perspective on this one.

Road Trip - 29.12.09

Kayla was so excited to be going on a train trip. She loves to train spot, so for her to go on a train, well you can guess how excited she was.

Waiting for the train

On the train, just look at that happy face.

We were heading to South Bank, Brisbane. They have a free, yes free!, Water play park and beach. It's called Aquativity. It really does cater for all ages. Kayla loved it, as did Miles. It was busy the day that we went, it was hot, but it was also overcast. Didn't rain while we were there though.

Miles having fun with the water.

Kayla swimming (it's not that deep her hands are actually touching the bottom)

On the way back to the train station we made a pit stop at the playground.

Kayla having fun on the horse singing 'seesaw, Marjory Dore'

That WAS my lolly pop but Miles stole it, He loved it on his gums.

Road Trip - 26.12.09

We were all getting bored, so Mum, Ximena, myself, Kayla and Miles, piled into the car and we drove to Kalinga Park.

Kayla's pram that she got from santa (Miles loves it too)
I found out about this park from this website.

For those of you that are in Brisbane this is a must see park. It is located at the end of Park Avenue, Clayfield QLD

This Park suits all ages. There is a huge sandpit. But the tree houses are well designed and made. Lots of climbing to be done. There is a climbing wall, and climbing nets. Seriously kids wont get board.

Mum took this photo for me (i don't have greasy hair, it was just so hot and humid that I wet my hair to cool me down).
As you can see the massive sandpit, with lots of bouncy 'horses'

Look Mum no hands!

Loving my boy

You can see how big the 'tree houses' are in the background.

No I don't want to wear my hat, can't you see i'm hot!

There is a reason that Kayla has her dress tucked into her undies. She kept tripping on it when she was climbing, so it was just easier to tuck it in to prevent her from ripping it.

You could make a day of it at this park, as there are loads of bike paths. There are picnic benches and BBQ's as well. Toilets aren't far from the playground either.

One seriously cool park. We all had fun that's for sure.

Christmas Day

Well it all started of with breakfast.

Miles is enjoying his watermelon.

Once everyone was up (except Adam as he as still sleeping), we opened pressies!

Kayla got puzzles, and a pram for baby. Miles got some toys for the bath.

After lunch we decided to go to the beach.
We drove to Sandgate Beach up near Redcliffe.

Kayla initially didn't want to go swimming. She said she was scared. She also said that she was scared of the kites. There were lots of kite surfers.
The thing with Kayla is is that you need to make it think it's her idea. So as we were going to the water to get in and have fun, she then decided she wanted to go too.

Once she was in the water she loved it.
As did Miles.

The kids had a ball, and then Kayla was like 'i have a go'. She kept pointing at the kites and wanted to play with them. I'll have to get a kite for her (note to self).

After about an hour or so, we got out of the water and had a play in the playground. Then it started to rain, so we figured we better go back home.

Overall it was a really good Christmas.

Road Trip - 24.12.09

Kayla and Miles having fun.

They have their moments, and this one they were having loads of fun.

Well in the arvo we walked to another park. Tell you what it's nice to have the choice. This park was small but still had a really good play ground. I was impressed with the climbing wall.
Kayla tried it out, but wasn't really comfortable with it.

I don't remember what Kayla was saying, but I just love the way the sun makes her hair glow

I wasn't looking through the view finder when I took this photo. I was going to delete it, but I like the composition so I decided to keep it.

Miles I swear is a magnet when it comes to water!
This container is for the animals to drink out of. But no, Miles insisted he wanted to play with it.

And that's not an unhappy look, that's an ecstatic look. You could almost hear him yelling for joy! If you look closely at his romper, you'll see that it's drenched with water.
Then he insisted on tasting it!

I swear this boy makes me laugh, and if it's on the ground it's fair game and he will try to eat it. This boy will eat anything. No seriously anything!
