Project 365 - Days 243-271 - September 2010

Post the images monthly is a lot easier for me than doing it daily/weekly.

I've also decided that I will continue with my project in 2011 but it wont be a 365 day project. Don't get me wrong I love photography and I love what I do, but some of my days are seriously dud photo's, photo's that are boring dull and of nothing. So it will be a 52 week project, with 52 outstanding images. Ok well that's the plan.

So here are the images for September

Slack I know!

I meant to update weekly, but even that was too much for me.

Day 93 - 5th Apr 2010

My sister had come to visit for Easter. She was about to head home, so I thought I would get some photo's of her and the kids. Miles was in one of his moods, and he did not want to participate. So I captured Ximena and Kayla instead. Kayla loves E (what she calls her Aunty), and in this photo you can tell.

went to the playground at the school and the kids were having fun with the drinking fountains.

Road Trip - 22.12.09

A massive storm hit Narrabri in the middle of the night (around 3am), and lasted about 1 & 1/2 hours. I was worried that the roads would get flooded out, but we were lucky (i think they got flooded a couple of days after).

Just as we were packing the car to leave another storm rolls in. It hits us just as we were leaving. It was so bad, that I had my wipers on full blast and still couldn't see properly, so needless to say I was driving slowly.

As we get to the outskirts of Narrabri, it stops raining. And well at that exact moment a mother duck and her ducklings decide to cross the road. I couldn't swerve to the right as there were oncoming cars. I could only serve to my left. I missed them, and the duckies manage to cross the road safely.

The storm clouds were just insane! But amazing at the same time. Now I can understand storm chaser.

I tell you what it was so good to see the welcome to Queensland sign

Because it meant that we weren't far from our destination! We stopped in Goodiwindi for a break and a play in the library as it was free and it was inside (as it was raining outside).

Don't remember what time we eventually got into Brisbane, but it was good to see my parents, and they loved seeing the kiddies.

Road Trip - 20.12.09

Some people said we were crazy to drive to Brisbane. Well it was cheaper to drive than it was to fly.

Flying would have set us back $1200, and that's just for the flight. Then we had to think about driving down to Melbourne + petrol + accommodation + parking + a hire car.
And carting around all that luggage, and car seats, yeah no way.

Sure that amount of K's (1800) is a lot for a car, but it's not really fair for my parents to come down to see us every year.

We had good moments and bad moments.

We left on Sunday 20.12.09. It was about 10am by the time we hit the road. Our 1st pit stop of the day was Swan Hill.
We drove to the park near the lake.

Had lunch and let the kids have a play around the park.

Miles kept crawling to the pond

and Kayla

she kept telling us that Miles was running away.

From Swan Hill we drove to Hay (NSW) and had a pit stop there for about 30 mins, and then we hit the road again. I was trying to get to West Wyalong. But we were all exhausted that we ended up stopping in a place called Gooligowi. It's a blink a and miss it town.
The hotel we stayed at was really lovely. And because it was Christmas time, she didn't charge us for kayla or miles! Bonus!
The room was spacious, cosy, and clean (which is what you want).
We went to the pub for dinner and for pub food it was good! And we only had to walk 30m to get back to the hotel, so we could have staggered home if we really wanted to, but we didn't.
