Last day of school for the term (and semester). Having an indoor picnic lunch in Kayla's prep room.

Had the flash for this one. Caused a blue hue in her eyes, which I of course edited out.
I still need practice with flash, but sometimes you just get it right.
The lighting with Miles was spot on and doesn't look like I used the flash at all.

Yes grubby face and all, that's my boy.

30 Days of My Kids - Day 27

It's not the greatest image in the world, but it's the only one I liked that was in focus. The images I did like the focus was off. Sometimes I hate auto focus.

Was doing some gardening with my boy to fill some time before we got his sister from school. Don't worry I was supervising him with the clippers, that and they are not very sharp, and he is cutting a succulent, and are very soft.
He loves helping his mum. Kayla got upset when she got home when she found out we had been gardening and she hadn't. Will have to do it more often then.

30 Days of My Kids - Day 26

Sometimes it just about the details. Sometimes we miss details and then when we want them it's way too late.

I was experimenting with my flash. I don't use it often, and when I don't use it for a while I get out of practice and it takes me a while to get the settings right.

Here Miles was sitting on the coffee table. He normally sits on the green chair (background). He was playing with my phone. He loves playing the games on there. It was cold, can you tell by the alpaca jumper. But I love the texture and the colour and the way his hand is placed just so.

I love this image. It captures the pure innocence of my daughter.

Kids don't have to be looking at the camera for an image to be great, this proves it. I just love the way her hair flows in the breeze.

30 Days of My Kids - Day 22

There will be 2 images from today. I just couldn't decide. Also with Kayla at school I feel like I don't get any images of her, so it's nice to focus on her for a bit.

Here she is all ready for school. Another snap shot, but it's my girl so of course I'm going to love it.




Miles loves going for walks.  And while it wasn't raining I thought we would go for a stroll and get out daily dose of vitamin D.  I wasn't actually looking through the view finder in this one, It was a general point and shoot shot (at hip level), as I continued to keep walking.  I just love the framing of this one.

30 Days of My Kids - Day 19

If you are wondering where day 18 is, well I didn't post one. Yes I did take a photo, but they were so crappy that in my opinion they were not worthy of posting.

Today Miles and I went for a walk, while the sun was out. Out at Cato Park there are parks of the path that naturally pool with water.
It's just as well Miles loves wearing his gum boots. He had a great time jumping in the puddles.

I love the splash of water coming from his shoe, and his reflection in the water.

This is my son Miles. As you can see he is screaming. However it is a happy scream, not a 'omg get me out of here' scream. What he was screaming about, I could not tell you.

I had set up my new continuous lights which I had just purchased, and I was also wanting to test out my new backdrop.
I love both my new lights (protog.com,au), and my new backdrop (vinyl from spotlight $9.95 p/m).

This particular suitcase I picked up at the local op shop. I stained it a darker brown, I need to stain it again however.
I love this particular prop as it's fun to use, and kids seem to like it too.

Week 10 - Project 52

Wow I'm a bit behind.  I didn't mean for that to happen. I thought I had posted them but then I realised that I only posted them on the AP website.

So here is week 10 - Miles.

I used this image to write my own action. I learnt a lot with photoshop, but it's a good way to learn. I took elements from my favourite actions (written by other people), and wrote them into my own action. So I need to credit the pioneer woman and the coffeeshop blog for inspiration. 

I was fooling around with the left over hundreds and thousands. I think I might try it with a black background rather than white. I'm not too sure if I like it. 
Anyway week 4 was Macro



I prefer the bonus image instead.




Miles you make me laugh. But what is not to love about my lil boy. 

Miles Smash Cake

Miles never had a smash cake when he turned 1. So I figured I would wait until he turned 2 and do it for him then. I figured that since he loves food so much it would be a piece of cake (pun intended).  Well be became a bit overwhelmed. I don't blame him, I mean I had the backdrop set up and I had my lighting kit (new, as I was trialling it out, and I'm in love with it, makes the light look really natural and not artificial). So for some of the images I had to sit with him, and let me tell you it's very hard to take photo's with your son sitting in your lap. Thank goodness I had my sister on hand, I set the camera all she had to do was press the shutter. So I got some shots at least. 

Kayla also wanted to be apart of it (for the cake). So you may see her dress or foot etc in some of the shots but I don't mind.

So here is the photo(s) of the week. Miles Smash Cake. I have decided to do a storyboard with this one, because there was more than 1 image that I liked. I will eventually print these off in a book. Oooh which reminds me I need to finish off last years book so I can get it printed. 

Project 365 - Days 243-271 - September 2010

Post the images monthly is a lot easier for me than doing it daily/weekly.

I've also decided that I will continue with my project in 2011 but it wont be a 365 day project. Don't get me wrong I love photography and I love what I do, but some of my days are seriously dud photo's, photo's that are boring dull and of nothing. So it will be a 52 week project, with 52 outstanding images. Ok well that's the plan.

Miles loves to try to feed you if he has the chance. And well he is a very sharing caring person.

Day 166 - 16th June 2010

Yes I'm aware he is quite grubby, but he followed me into the BLT. He loves closing doors. In fact he is very particular about it. Always has to ensure doors are closed. It's very cute.



so if you look you can see he is closing the door of the washing machine.

Day 165 - 15th June 2010

Miles is such a mummy's boy! He loves being held by me. Which don't get me wrong I love him, but gez he gets heavy after a while. And well he refused to come off the hip for me to take a photo of him.
So he is on my hip and I had to hold the camera a certain way in one hand and then hold him in the other arm. Made sure he was facing the sun, hence the beautiful warm glow.



sure he has crumbs on his face, but just look at the beautiful smile!
