From the bedroom window

This was taken 16th December 2009, at 7.35pm. The colour of the sky and the clouds were just amazing I just couldn't resist to take a photo of it.

Shock the system

Was up again at stupid o'clock... thanks Miles. God knows how I'm going to handle it when we get to QLD, I'm going to be buggered by the end of the day.

Anyway I log on to the computer, and start firefox and find this article on yahoo news. It was very interesting, and very true. I find that as soon as I change my fitness routine my body is like 'what are you doing!', and I hurt the next day, which is what you want.

So Just because I'm going on holiday's doesn't mean I should slack off my fitness.

I'm going to shock my system with walking, maybe even running... yeah running... I hate it but it will be good for me. And if possible, even riding a bike.

Organised

Am I organised or what!

I've got my bag packed (just needs a few more things, but I still need them at the moment so I can't pack them yet.

I've got Kayla and Miles bag packed, oh and Adam's bag packed as well, and he isn't leaving for another week!

Just need to wrap a few more presents and it's all done.

X's laptop is loaded with photo's, movies, tv shows and music. The ipod is loaded with music and books.

Will get Kayla to pick the toys she wants to take on the day.

Not long until I'm on holidays yay!

One thing is for sure, just because I'm on holiday's doesn't mean that my 'alfalfa zone' doesn't go out the window. I will be taking healthy snacks and foods along with me. And I will be stopping into fruit and veg markets and getting fresh produce to make salads.
I can stick to it :D

I gave him one

I put on my facebook page "would it be wrong for me to give Miles one of his Christmas presents?"

50% of people said Yes
50% of people said No

Some people could see my reasoning behind it.

This is/was my reasoning.

1. We leave for our road trip on 20th. I was going to give him 1 of his presents on the 19th. But no point giving it to him then, when he can only play it for 1 day.
2. I'm not lugging it with me on the road trip (the big ones, I am taking some little ones).
3. He is going to get stuff when we get to our destination anyway
4. When we get back he is going to open the rest of them, and his birthday stuff

So that's justifiable enough... I gave him one. A pelican pull along toy, he likes it.

Finished

I just finished reading "Confessions of a Reformed Dieter" by AJ Rochester. Excellent book, and I definitely will be reading it again. Ok listening to it again, as it was an audio book (one I borrowed from the library).

I think I'm addicted to audio books now. I can do all the mundane things that I do everyday, but read a book! I mean how cool is that. I love my ipod for that! So now I might buy some audio books. One of the books I would like though doesn't come as an audio book... just yet... well I couldn't find it in the itunes store, so who knows. Anyway, the point is, I listened to this book over 3 days, where if I were to read it, it would have taken me 2 weeks!

So I'm going to apply some of her techniques, well the fact of the matter is I already have, so that's a good start.

Oh and listen to more audio books.

Blocking, Running and Dirt

More from my shoot the other day.

This particular play ground has fake grass (not the normal wood chips, like you see at playgrounds). Which is great, because when you have a baby that crawls, fake grass is better than wood chips.

Well Miles was trying to crawl on the concrete, and he was successfully, only problem was I didn't want him ruining his pants, so I took him off. Normally when I lie him down, he is quick smart to get back up again. But this time he just laid there. So I got Kayla to lay down next to him.

This is the result

and

Not much later, Miles was back to crawling around. He decided that the no longer liked the fake grass and wanted to crawl on the concrete.

Kayla well she was just running around and having fun, then she starts running back to me

she's saying something, but I don't understand because I'm not close enough to hear. She definitely runs like a girl. Once she was closer to me I finally could understand what she was saying. She was saying 'I'm scared, I no like the dark'. She didn't like the shade of the trees of where she was playing (? yeah go figure!)

So she started walking along the stones, while Miles, well he was eating the dirt.

So that was our adventure.

Contact me if you would like me to capture you own, kids or even pets adventure!

Resolution

Yes I'm aware that it's not the new year yet, but I have thought about a couple of things that I would like to achieve in 2010. So I figured I should write them down before I forget.

1. Lose (ideally) 12k. I'm currently 74/75k. My bmi is 26(something). It should and needs to be under 25. The wii fit suggests I get to 22 bmi, which means 62k. So that means 12. So my goal is:
Lose 12K, 1k a month

2. Read 12 books
I managed to read 17 books this year, so I know it's possible.
List of books to (possibly) read.
- Harry Potter and the half blood prince
- Harry Potter and the deathly hallows
- To kill a mockingbird
- Battle axis trilogy
- Tomorrow series (I've already read book 1 & 2)
- Baby I did a bad thing (but haven't we all)
- Blood is the new black

3. Project 365
Take a photo each day and upload it on here.

I will add more when I think of more.

Crop!

Took the kids to the playground and took some very interesting shots.

Kayla was running to me and I took the following.

They make a great series. Some are out of focus, but that's only because the shutter speed and auto focus couldn't keep up with her running!

I love the look on her face in this one

she really was going "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" that's my little pirate.

Think Think Think

Ok so I already have a blog, but it's for my business MiCreations and well I figured it would be good to having another blog for all the random stuff that I have going on.

I doubt many if any will follow, but hey, who cares, these are just my random thoughts. What got me thinking about it was really 2 things.

1. On AP someone suggest the 365 day project. Where basically you take a photo each day of the year. I thought this was a fantastic idea. So I'm going to attempt to do it. I usually have my camera not far from my reach anyway. And since I'm going to be away on holidays when 1st Jan happens, what the heck. So we'll see if i can actually do it. I'm going to try. I'll have a mini goal of 30 days. That's achievable, and since they wont really be MiCreations (my webpage not blog this time) based, it doesn't really fit, if you know what I mean.

2. I'm listening to "Confessions of a Reformed Dieter" by AJ Rochester (ex bigger loser host), which I will add is a very good book (I have to say I'm loving audio books, why didn't I think to do it before?!), anyway things she mentioned in there make sense. If you make yourself accountable.... ok so i don't remember exactly what she said, but i know in my head what i mean :p

Also the other thing is I'm not on MM anymore. I use to like that place, but since I'm no longer a member and never will be (long story, and if you want to know I will explain), I need somewhere to put my random blab.

So yeah that's it in a nutshell... except I don't really think it makes sense, oh well. I will know what it means.

ha!

Now to have fun with photoshop to make this place more like me!

xx Mat

I've been busy taking Christmas photo's, but I've been having fun doing it. I've also being having fun fooling around in photoshop.

Remember there is only a small window of opportunity for you to request something before I take my Christmas leave.

Take Care!

No Cheese Here

I've been saying cheese for photo's since i was a tacker.

However cheese and kids doesn't work... unless they are eating it. Cheese makes them scrunch up their face, and we don't want that, we want to see their beautiful eyes.

So i figured out a way to take photo's but not say cheese. Now I can capture their beautiful faces and their beautiful smiles, and create that memory.

Unconventional

I have moments were I like to be unconventional. It gets my creative juices following.

These photo's of my lil boy are part of me being unconventional.

How do I hear you ask? I'm not looking through the view finder! I like not know what the outcome is going to be. It makes me have more fun. And believe me I had fun, but the best part of it was finding out that most of them were winners!

enjoy.

Bill Gates and the Real World

This was sent to me as a email, but it was too good not to share, so enjoy.

Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this! Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

If you agree, pass it on.

If you can read this - Thank a teacher!

Changes

I've made some changes to my price list on my website

The photo gallery is still password protected, however you can still see some examples of my work there and here as well.

I can definitely say that I am improving taking portraits and candids. I'm really enjoying working with the kids. My kids sure do get a work out with me practicing on them. But it means I can trial different techniques as well.
