Ok winter means little to no sessions because it's just way too cold. Fair enough, but what is one to do to get the creative juices flowing? Have some fun of course.
So today we taught the kids about Volcano's! As you can see from the image, they totally loved it. Got it on video as well, so will have to make up a small video of their reactions.
I'm totally loving the milk hazes at the moment, so enjoy these as much as I do.
Matilda.

30 Days of My Kids - Day 30
Wow 30 days, it's finally here... ok well been and gone.
I must say I have really enjoyed this little project and would like to do it again, but I think I might try it in spring. Might do it as a seasonal thing.
Well this shot ended up being a JPEG file and not RAW! I have no idea how that happened. Must have had the camera on when I was pushing buttons and didn't notice that I changed the settings.
Either way, I'm still able to edit.
We were up at Safeway... er Woolies. She the thing is I grew up knowing it as Woolies for the 1st 9 years of my life. Then we moved to Melbourne, and well there it was known as Safeway. So I then grew up knowing it as Safeway, and now it's back to woolies.... it gets confusing.
Anyway, so we we up at Woolies. We walked up there, Miles is on his trike, you can't tell it here, but he is. We were there cause I had to buy 1 thing that I forgot the day before (blister bandaids, they only had the scholls brand, and imo don't bother they are crappy), Well what should have been a 15 min trip took over an hour. They were having a 'fresh food people' fair and their was colouring in, face painting, and free fruit. Miles hogged, and I mean hogged the watermelon. He ate 90% of the watermelon, it was quite funny. In fact they woolies employee had to take a photo of the tray to prove that my boy at most of it. He was chowing it down.
I just love how he is looking at it. Cute as. And yes he does try to be my little helper. Bless him.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 29
Had the flash for this one. Caused a blue hue in her eyes, which I of course edited out.
I still need practice with flash, but sometimes you just get it right.
The lighting with Miles was spot on and doesn't look like I used the flash at all.
Yes grubby face and all, that's my boy.
Enjoy,
Matilda

See the difference
I took this photo of my boy because I wanted to capture the moment (ok so I didn't get him looking up as I was wanting, but I still like it, cause you can see his top). I did not change my settings and it ended way over exposed. The image on the left is straight out of the camera aka sooc. The image on the right is my edited image. If you didn't see it sooc then I highly doubt that you would have been able to tell.
So why am I showing this. Well for a different reasons. 1. images can be saved, 2. shoot raw, 3. choose a photographer who knows what they are doing.
So just because you're friend down the road has a 'fancy' camera doesn't mean they know what they are doing. Choose a professional - choose me :D

30 Days of My Kids - Day 28
2 images today cause well I couldn't decide and well I wanted to include my girl as well.
Here is Miles playing 'red remover' aka the 'yeah' game, Just love his look of concentration.
And Kayla, my poser.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 27
Was doing some gardening with my boy to fill some time before we got his sister from school. Don't worry I was supervising him with the clippers, that and they are not very sharp, and he is cutting a succulent, and are very soft.
He loves helping his mum. Kayla got upset when she got home when she found out we had been gardening and she hadn't. Will have to do it more often then.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 26
I was experimenting with my flash. I don't use it often, and when I don't use it for a while I get out of practice and it takes me a while to get the settings right.
Here Miles was sitting on the coffee table. He normally sits on the green chair (background). He was playing with my phone. He loves playing the games on there. It was cold, can you tell by the alpaca jumper. But I love the texture and the colour and the way his hand is placed just so.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 25
Processed it with a vintage nostalgia in mind.

30 Days of My Kids - Day 23
I couldn't decided between these too, so decided to post both of them. Snap shots but having fun with lego.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 24
Kids don't have to be looking at the camera for an image to be great, this proves it. I just love the way her hair flows in the breeze.
This is the other image that I took that I just love.
Enjoy,
Matilda

30 Days of My Kids - Day 22
Here she is all ready for school. Another snap shot, but it's my girl so of course I'm going to love it.
Miles loves going for walks. And while it wasn't raining I thought we would go for a stroll and get out daily dose of vitamin D. I wasn't actually looking through the view finder in this one, It was a general point and shoot shot (at hip level), as I continued to keep walking. I just love the framing of this one.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 21
Here is my girl, all wrapped up out of the bath, it's a snap shot, but I love it all the same.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 19
Today Miles and I went for a walk, while the sun was out. Out at Cato Park there are parks of the path that naturally pool with water.
It's just as well Miles loves wearing his gum boots. He had a great time jumping in the puddles.
I love the splash of water coming from his shoe, and his reflection in the water.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 17
While Kayla was watching some of the zoo keepers I captured this image of Miles. I just totally love the 'blue steel' look he is giving me.
One thing I love about the Halls Gap Zoo is they have a great playground area. There is this chubby house, that is the home to 3 ferrets. The kids love playing in this chubby house. But what I love is the window. It makes for great photo's.
I couldn't decide which image I like the most, so I did a storyboard instead.
Miles
And can't forget my beautiful girl Kayla
These images make up for my 'non' days.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 16
This image just cracks me up. My 2 decided to play hide and seek. If they can't see me then of course I can't see them.
Enjoy,
Matilda

30 Days of My Kids - Day 15
I processed this image lomo style, as everything about this screams 'gangsta'. I love how his beanie is folded, how it's pushing one of his ears down, how he is giving a 'how you doin' look' (like Joey from Friends). It captures my boys personality to a T.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 14
So many images of my boy (well you'd expect that when my girl is in school and I get lots of one of one time with my boy), but today is an image of my dancing girl. Yes she is dancing, and I believe she is dancing to Delta's 'Sitting on top of the world". It's a complete snap shot, but I don't care, it captures the essence of my girl.
30 Days of My Kids - Day 13
I do believe he was actually saying 'Hello'. Very cute. This particular image I had to do quite of bit of editing to it to get it the way I wanted it to look like. But I adore it in black in white.
Enjoy my hello boy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 12
Miles and I go for a lot of walks. Weather pending that is. And we always seem to end up at these pile of rocks near the railway line. He loves it because he loves looking for treasure or for rocks for his 'rock' collection. Therefore this shot has more of a story to it and an memory of a time that Miles and I share together.
Enjoy,
Matilda

30 Days of My Kids - Day 11
This is a complete snap shot, nothing set up about it at all. Hey I'm not going for artsey fartsey every shot, sometimes it's nice to have the snap shots capture those moments.
Here is my girl, showing off Teddy. Teddy is much loved. He is my sisters Teddy, she has had him now for 26 years! He is well loved and he totally rocks! And yes his name is Teddy.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 10
I've made it 10 days! Only 20 more to go. I do hope my kids don't get sick of me taking photo's of them. I don't mind, it has been nice to document their lives.
Well here is Miles again, I honestly could not tell you what he was watching on tv, but he look so cute with Teddy tucked up under the blanket on the couch.
Again in black and white, as I liked the tones in black and white over the colour version.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 09
I love this image of my little boy. I love how the light falls. No flash just light from the window.
EXIF Data is as follows:
ISO: 400
Lens: 50mm
Fstop: 1.8
Speed: 1/160
I processed this one in black and white cause sometimes portraits just pop out more in black and white. I could have also cloned out the little scab he has under his eye, but I figured he's a boy, and he's bound to have bumps and bruisers, or in this cause a scab or too.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 08
Out of all the images I took this was the only decent one (that was 100% in focus). I still love it. I can't believe how grown up my girl looks.
Enjoy,
Matilda

30 Days of My Kids - Day 07
After picking the kids up from their nanamoo's we decided to go to the park. Miles however did not want to go to Cato park. So decided to drive over to Halls Gap for a change of scenery. Kids loved it.
Love this shot of them on the slide.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 06
We were walking up to the toy library when I captured this shot of my boy. I couldn't really tell what the image looked liked in the camera as it was quite bright, but I love how this one came out, his crusty upper lip and all.
I just love the way he put his beanie on too, if it were red, then he would have looked a lot like papa smurf.
Enjoy,
Matilda
ps. I didn't shoot this one on manual. I shot it on the 'portrait' setting. He was just moving so fast (he was on his bike), and out of all the other 'auto' settings portrait is the one I use over all the others.

30 Days of My Kids - Day 05
Caught Kayla just after dinner. It was a sausage pasta, which obviously she throughly enjoyed.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 04
Miles is totally loving the bath at the moment. He was being a complete merman and just want me to take more photo's.
Here you can clearly see his eczema. But we did have an allergy appointment the next day regarding this, so in a few weeks it should be cleared.
He is still a happy boy though.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 03
Captured this shot of my two (primarily Kayla), just love how it works in black and white. Also love the frame within a frame.
This is my bonus image.
I was not looking through the view finder at the time, as I was trying to get both kids attention, so my window framing is off, but I still love the image.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My Kids - Day 02
In the car to the hair dresses. Kayla loves her long hair, but it was in serious need of a cut. So this is her before shot. Just look at all that fly away hair. Love how the light falls in this one.
Enjoy,
Matilda
30 Days of My kids - Day 1
I've been in a photography slump lately. I love photography but with no sessions at the moment I need a creative outlet.
So I thought I would do a photography challenge. This one is obviously theme related, and that's my kids.
So here is Day 1 my boy Miles. Miles suffers chronic eczema :( you can see the bits around his eyes, doesn't stop him being a happy go lucky boy however.

Iceberg
Today while I was doing some file clean up. I realised I still have photo's from my holiday to edit.
Then I realised, wait a minute, I have loads of panorama's!
And bless photoshop for photomerge :D
So this is my 1st pano I've created from my trip. The photo was taken while on a cruise to see the Glaciers in El Calafate Argentina. And yes the iceberb/s are that blue. The textures and colours are just breathtaking.
Here it is in Black and White as well.
Enjoy,
Matilda

A Landscape - for a change
If I could find my Grampians map I could tell you exactly where in the Grampians this is, but alas I have no idea where my map is.
When I first started photography (a long time ago), I hated taking photo's of people. I was seriously hopeless at 'portraits' of any kind.
So I stuck to landscapes, both natural and urban. I have some black and white prints (A2 size +) from back in the day when I use to process in a lab. I still love these images.
Now however I'm so use to photographing people that when it comes to landscapes, I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing anymore.
The other factor is time. To get some of the better shots, it means sunset and sunrise. Which currently is difficult to do being a single parent :(
So how times have changed.
So I have a mission to take some decent landscape that I can say I'm proud of.
So enjoy this one.

Studio
Well I realised that I did not have a lot of photo's of me, Miles or Kayla.
So while my sister was down visiting I decided to set up my little studio and take some pictures.
Obviously the photo's of me in the shot, my sister pressed the trigger (I set it up however). The other ones I was behind the camera.

Jelly Bean Markets
On the 6th of May I drove up to Horsham to be in the Jelly Bean Children's Market.
A friend told me about a post she saw on Facebook (it's a great networking tool). Well I got in contact with them, and it went from there.
As I am a family photographer this opportunity was perfect for me. So I got some frames, and organised a photobook, took some of my photo canvas' along and printed up a Jelly Bean Market special.
Didn't get any sessions booked on the day, but got lots of enquiries and half of my 'photo special' cards went, so that's a good sign.
This is my stall set up, next time, I'll bring a table cloth.

tfamily sp
I took this photo a few weeks ago, I've been so busy I just haven't had the change to upload it.
So this is the T family. Love to photograph, had fun out on a farm, the sheep thought that we were there to feed them when we arrived. They came running towards us. Stood around for a few minutes before realising we had nothing for them and moved on. I wish I had my camera out at that time, cause that would have been fun to shoot with the sheep, but oh well.
So enjoy,
Matilda

Who will you choose
Yes anyone can take a photo, and there are a few photographers out there that call themselves photographers, but are from it. Most of the time it comes down to you as the client. Some people go to these 'wannabe' photographers and are happy with the images that they receive because they are bias and love the subject (their own family), and they didn't taken the images themselves. Another huge factor is price. You might say to yourself "Why should I fork out $150 for a session and only get 5 prints, when I can go to XXX and have a session for $80 and get the whole session on disc". Well again it's up to you. But if it were me it comes down to quality.
For example, say you have to redo your roof, and builder AAA gives you a quote for the job and it's $1000, and no guarantee. You also get a quote from builder BBB. He charges you $5000 for the work, but has a 10 year guarantee. Who would you go for. Yeah build AAA is a lot cheaper, but if it were me, I'd rather pay more, and pay for quality.
So at the end of the day it's up to you, I would like my work to speak for itself. It's your decision, but I hope you choose me as your photographer to create those special memories, because we all know that memories last a lifetime.

Website Down, but not for long
This has cause me to have some free time to catch up doing boring business stuff. That really has to get done. Well It's just as well because if I left it later you would have found that you would not be able to access my website at all.
My domain runs out tomorrow (it's renewed now), opps. The reason I didn't get a renewal was because I forgot I signed up with an account I don't use any more. Needless to say I'm having all my emails forwarded now, and in a few months time, this email will be closed.
I'm also changing over my web hosting. So if you suddenly find you can't get access to my website, never fear it is just a minor hiccup and will be up and running in 24-48hrs.

My Boy
Well my 30 day challenge did not last long... opps. Oh well these things happen. I was just simply not motivated.
I did however realise that I have taken photo's in a while. I do have some sessions lined up which is good, but in the mean time I will use my kids as my subjects. That and I hadn't gotten a decent photo of my kiddies in a while.
Well while my daughter was a school had some one on one time with my boy, so we went for a walk. He loves having a car or a train with him, snap up this shot of him playing with one of his racing cars.
I <3 my boy.
Enjoy,
Matilda
Camera Bag
This is a pretty crappy photo, because well it's taken with my mobile. The point is to show you my camera bag.
Ok so it's not exactly a bag. It's a beauty case. I bought it ages ago, and I did make a big insert for it. I found this insert not suitable for this bag, so I started to make it again. Well Lets just say that I dumped that Idea when I made a mistake making it twice.
Well the other day I had this idea of using my small inserts in there. Well last night as I was cleaning up (as I was trying to find my ipod so I could go for a walk), I got out my camera gear (as I was also putting it away), and thought I would try it. And well it works. The one in the middle I have had for a while, and used heaps. The pink one on the left, and the blue one on the right I made a long time ago to sell, but they never sold, so I figured if no one is going to buy them I might as well put them to good use. And well all 3 fit perfect in there, so they are all mine now :D.
The other advantage is that I can just take out one insert and put it in another bag straight away (that was the whole point of me making them, that they could be interchangeable). Ok so the colours don't exactly match, but such is life, it does the job.
And yes that's my gear in there, hence why I had to take a photo with my phone.
If you would like an insert, please contact me at lovemicreations@gmail.com
Thanks,
Matilda
